Coenzyme Q10, or ubiquinone, is a fat soluble compound found in meat and seafoods. Is a vitamin-like substance, expected to have antioxidant and anti-aging effects. Coenzyme Q10 was analyzed using an ODS column, C18P 4D, under reversed phase mode. A good linearity was observed for the calibration curves of coenzyme Q10 in the concentration range 10 to 1000 mg/L. Analysis of a commercial dietary supplement (soft capsule) demonstrated the method’s capability for the analysis of coenzyme Q10 without getting any influence from other components present in the supplement.
(Sample pretreatment method for the dietary supplement)
(1) Cut the supplement and remove the content.
(2) Add 5 mL of the eluent to 5 mg of the content. Ultrasonicate for 10 minutes.
(3) Filter the mixture using a membrane filter (0.45 µm) and use the filtrate for analysis.
