Showa Denko America Operations During COVID-19 Pandemic
Thank you for your continued business especially during these challenging times. As you are aware, businesses nationwide and globally continue to be affected by spread of COVID-19. This includes the extraordinary restrictions in place in the greater New York City area, location of our US Headquarters. All non-essential personnel are working remotely. Currently, all operations will continue as normal (Technical & Sales Support and S&R logistics).
Warehouse and shipping/receiving personnel in our Jamaica, NY warehouse location are continuing to work on schedule albeit with the possibility of reduced staffing. Also, our airport for shipping/receiving logistics, JFK International, continues to be operational. However, shipping and receiving capacity may be reduced.
Please continue to conduct business as usual. We are continuing to ship Monday-Friday via Fed-Ex 2-Day service for all purchase orders received before 2:30 PM Eastern Daylight Savings time (EDT). We will send out further notices as the conditions and situations change.

Recently CDBS-453 columns from gel lot 190527 was recalled. The issue involved shifting retention times from previous gel lots, a loss of precision. Please contact us if you believe your column is not performing as your previous lot. The columns must be from lot 190527.

Showa Denko America Launches New Applications Laboratory in New York City

Showa Denko America (420 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY) launched a new applications laboratory on the upper west side in January 2019. Preparations took about 8 months to complete and the lab is now fully operational. The laboratory will operate in the following capacities:
- Test customer samples and suggest the best column and conditions
- Create new applications for the Americas markets (US, Canada, and most of Central and South America)
- Create new white papers, technical articles and poster presentations
- Test and maintain the column trial program for US customers
- Plan and execute long-term projects in coordination with Showa Denko K.K.

Showa Denko to Launch New ShodexTM Analytical Columns: Five New Types Developed for SEC and Ion Exchange Chromatography
Showa Denko (SDK) (TOKYO:4004) will start selling next month five new types of ShodexTM high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) columns, namely, “GPC HK-401,” “GPC HK-405” and “GPC HK-HFIP404L” packed columns for gel permeation chromatography (GPC*1: size exclusion chromatography [SEC*2] using organic solvents) as well as “OHpakTM LB-805” packed column for gel filtration chromatography (GFC*3: SEC using aqueous solvents) and “IEC SP-FT 4A” packed column for ion exchange chromatography*4.

Showa Denko K.K. Gains “Thomson Reuters 2015 Top 100 Global Innovators Award”
Showa Denko (SDK) (TOKYO: 4004) has received “The Thomson Reuters 2015 Top 100 Global Innovators” award. This is the first time SDK is included in the Top 100 Global Innovators list produced by Thomson Reuters, a world-leading information service firm. A trophy was presented to SDK on December 1.
Thomson Reuters honors the world leaders in innovation each year, utilizing its value-added patent citation database and intellectual property intelligence platform. The company uses scientific and objective methodology involving four main criteria of patent volume, application-to-grant success, globalization and citation influence. SDK has been recognized for its achievements in globalization and citation influence. (In the screening process, Thomson Reuters analyzed various organizations’ records for the last five years. As for “globalization,” meanwhile, records for the past three years were covered.)

Showa Denko K.K. introduced a new amino HILIC polymer-based column series, the VG-50 series.
The columns are available in 150 mm and 250 mm lengths in the standard analytical bore size (4.6 mm). Columns along with the protective guard column are available for sale now. These columns boast increased reducing sugars recovery (mannose and lactose, for example) are useful in the dairy industry.
Showa Denko America recommends the Shimadzu Center for Advanced Analytical Chemistry (SCAAC) for specialized method development. The SCAAC contains more than 20 state-of-the-art high resolution LCMS, gel permeation, and MALDI-TOF instruments. Beyond being an excellent teaching center for students at The University of Texas (Arlington Campus), the center offers method development at a standard rate. We will discontinue the production of the following refractive index detctors at the end of February 2015. We will continue to repair Shodex RI-100 series. And we will sell RI-201H continuously.
In addition, we plan to sell new models “Shodex RI-500 series” from spring 2015 after we have acquired CE Marking.[Discontinued Products]
